We made it. We survived the “Holiday Hell.”
The tree is down, the lights are packed away, and now we are staring down the barrel of January. For a lot of us, this is when the “Perfect Storm” shifts. We aren’t fighting over who gets the kids for Christmas anymore—now we are dealing with the Financial Hangover. The credit card bills from trying to buy their love? They’re arriving in the mail right now.
Most guys start the year making weak resolutions. “I’m gonna lose 10 pounds.” “I’m gonna be nicer to my ex.”
Forget resolutions. They don’t work.
If you want to actually rebuild your life in 2026, you need Science. You need Strategy. You need to break the code on something I call the Pinky Protocol.
The Science of the “Pattern Interrupt”
When you look at your bank account in January, or you feel that loneliness of the long winter ahead, your brain runs a familiar, destructive program:
- Thought: “I’m broke. I messed up again.”
- Belief: “I’ll never get out of this hole.”
- Action: Depression, isolation, or rage.
It’s a runaway truck. To stop it, you need a Pattern Interrupt.
Try this right now: Touch your pinky finger.
It feels weird, right? Good. That weirdness snaps your brain out of the autopilot loop. It pulls the air brakes. But the Pinky isn’t just a brake—it’s a GPS.
The Pinky Protocol: Begin with the End in Mind
I stole this concept from Stephen Covey, but I’m making it trucker-friendly. The Pinky represents the Destination.
If you start your year looking at where you are (The Thumb/Trigger: Broke, lonely, angry), you will stay there. The Pinky Protocol forces you to jump to the end of the timeline.
The “Big Screen” Visualization Hack You need to use the “Big Screen” in your mind. I’m not talking about a fuzzy picture. I’m talking 4K, high-definition, IMAX quality.
Instead of writing a list of resolutions, I want you to close your eyes and picture yourself five years from now.
- Don’t just see “happy.”
- See the rocking chair you are sitting in.
- See the face of your grandchild (even if your kids are still small, visualize the legacy).
- Feel the peace in your chest.
When you Begin with the End in Mind with that level of detail, your brain (specifically the Reticular Activating System) starts working in the background to make it happen. It figures out the “How.”
Dealing with the January Storm
We talked about the “Perfect Storm” in December, but January has its own weather.
- Financial Devastation: That “flat tire” from holiday spending is real.
- The Winter Blues: The adrenaline of the holidays is gone, and reality sets in.
If you use the Pinky Protocol, you can look at that credit card bill and ask: “Does panic help me get to that rocking chair?” No. “Does making a budget and picking up an extra shift help me get there?” Yes.
The Pinky Protocol shifts you from Destroyer (Panic) to Builder (Strategy).
This Year, Use Both Hands
We covered the Science (The Left Hand) today. But to get through 2026, you also need the Spirit (The Right Hand). You need the fuel to keep going when the logic runs out.
We combine both in the Convoy.
1. Join the Fortress Start 2026 with a pack of men who are building, not just resolving. Join the Brotherhood Here
2. Watch the Replay See the “Pinky Protocol” broken down live (and see my story Stetson). Watch on YouTube
3. Fuel the Mission If this hack helped you set your vision for the year, throw a few bucks in the tank. Buy a Gallon of Convoy Fuel ($5)
Touch that pinky. See the future. Let’s build a legacy in 2026.
