We often talk about the Science of the “Pinky Protocol”—using your brain to hack your recovery. But today, we are talking about the Spirit. Because you can have the best strategy in the world, but if your spiritual tank is empty, you aren’t leaving the driveway.
I want to give you a Divine Blueprint for your life. And it starts with a story about a dryer.
1. Finding Your “Secret Place” (The Silence)
My seven-year-old son is autistic. He is non-verbal. He doesn’t speak with words, but he teaches me more about life than anyone else.
One day, we couldn’t find him. The house was locked down (we run a tight ship for his safety), but he was gone. My wife and I were frantic. We were yelling, searching, making noise. Finally, we stopped and took a breath.
In the silence, we heard a happy sound.
We followed it to the laundry room. He had climbed inside the dryer, pulled some blankets in, and closed the door. He wasn’t lost. He was hiding from the noise. He had found his Secret Place.
Gentlemen, life is loud. The arguments, the financial stress, the lonely nights. If you want to survive the storm, you need to find your dryer. You need to find that quiet place where you can hear the Still Small Voice.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
You cannot receive your orders if you are screaming at the storm.
2. The Prophecy (Your Vision)
In the church, a prophecy is a message from God. But for us Dads, think of it as your Personal Prophecy.
We use the “Pinky Protocol” to visualize the future scientifically. Today, I want you to see it spiritually. God knows the end from the beginning. He knows the man you are capable of being.
I asked you to picture yourself in a rocking chair 20 years from now. That isn’t just a daydream. That is a Divine Appointment. If you can see it, you can build it. But you have to stop looking at the dirt.
3. The Eagle and the Chicken (The Choice)
My Grandfather used to tell a story around the campfire that changed my life.
A naturalist found an eagle living on a farm with chickens. The farmer said, “He eats like a chicken, he scratches like a chicken. He is a chicken.”
The naturalist disagreed. He took the bird to the roof of the barn and said, “You are an eagle. Fly.” The bird looked down, saw the chickens eating corn, and jumped down to join them.
Finally, the naturalist took the bird to the top of a mountain at sunrise. He turned the eagle’s face toward the sun. The eagle trembled. He spread his mighty wings… and he flew.
This is your choice today.
- The Chicken: Scratches in the dirt of the past. Pecks at the scraps of his divorce. Blames his ex for the feed being late.
- The Eagle: Locks his wings into the storm. Uses the headwinds to soar higher. Looks into the sun.
My Grandfather would tap me on the chest and say: “Mikey, today you acted like a chicken. But I know that inside, you have the heart of an eagle.”
I am tapping you on the chest right now. You have the heart of an eagle.
Stop scratching in the dirt. Spread your wings.
The Inner Big Rig
You are a machine built for the long haul.
- Mind (Motor): The Science.
- Heart (Transmission): The Spirit.
- Body (Rear End): The Action.
When you marry your Spirit and your Body, you come alive. When you divorce them, you die. Jesus came to make sure that marriage lasts forever.
